- Term Definition as used in this document

- Click: Press left mouse button one time.
- Color Map: Box in lower center screen containing several colored boxes.
- Color Palette: Line of sixteen color boxes across center of screen.
- Drag: Press left mouse button and move mouse with button depressed.
- Double Click: Press twice in rapid succession on left mouse button.
- Option Box: Right Lower portion of screen (changes for selected tool).
- Posisition: Move mouse to move pointer to selected area of screen or
- to point to the tool or option desired.
- Right Click: Press right mouse button once.
- Right Drag: Press and hold right mouse button while moving mouse.
- Select: Posisition pointer to tool or option and click.
- (In tool section select implies selection of both a color
- and the desired tool.
- Ramp Pointers: Two notches on Color Pallet (one pointing each direction).
- Release: Remove finger from mouse button.
- Type: Type character on keyboard. Use backspace to make corrections.

- NEOchrome COMMANDS

- Command How to perform

- Full Screen Display: Click on Full Screen box to left of Tool Box.
- (Esc key toggles between full and half screen).
- Half Screen Display: Position pointer to screen corner and click.
- Vertical Scroll: See GRABBER in toolbox.
- Select Color Palette: Posisition pointer to desired color on palette;
- then click.
- Change color Palette: Methood 1: Move pointer to color on map box and click.
- (You may drag colors on box from side to side to
- display any of the 256 colors).
- Method 2: Move pointer to the three digits
- representing the red, green and blue values.
- Click to increase number or right click to
- decrease it.
- Both Methods: The first step changes the color in the
- mixer area just to the right of the color numbers.
- Put the pointer on the mixer area and double click.
- (This changes the pallet color that was selected).
- Erase last operation: Press the UNDO key - This will erase the last thing
- you did on the screen. To restore an undo press
- UNDO again.
- Exit NEOchrome: See Exit option on Disk tool.

- ERASER: Select - Posisition - Drag.
- PENCIL: Select - Posisition - Drag.
- LINE DRAW: Select - Posisition - Drag - Release (line remains).
- or Select - Posisition - Right Drag - Release.
- (2nd option creates line of colors between ramp pointers).
- AREA FILL: Select - Posisition on fill area - Click (area fills).
- PAINT BRUSH: Select - Select Brush from options - Posisition - Drag.
- SPRAY CAN: Select - Select Nozel from options - Posisition - Drag.
- (there are four spray speeds as follows.
- slow: right drag - half screen.
- drag - half screen.
- right drag - full screen.
- fast: drag - full screen).
- TEXT: Select - Select type size and style - Posisition - Type.
- COPY BOX: Select - Posisition - Drag to create copy box - Release.
- To copy click and hold - right click - drag.
- To move click and hold - drag.
- Options: CUT: Removes copy box and places in buffer.
- COPY: Makes a duplicate of copy box in buffer.
- PASTE: Places buffer back on screen at curser.
- CLEAR: Erases contents of copy box.
- Opaque copy: acts on entire copy box.
- Transparent copy: does not copy background color.
- allowing items in new picture area to remain if
- it is in a background location on area being
- moved. (The buffer is not displayed. It is
- available until it is replaced or NEOchrome is
- exited. By loading another picture it is
- possible to past the buffer taken from one
- picture onto a new one.)
- DISK: Options: Save: Select - Respond to dialogue box.
- Read: Right Select - Respond to dialogue box.
- Exit: Select - Respond with exit on dialogue box.
- FUTURE RELEASES: Atari will make additional tools available.

- NEOCHROME FEATURES

- Color Palette Animation: Right drag the ramp pointers to place the colors
- that you wish to rotate between the pointers.
- To shift colors click on the arrows on either side
- of the mixing box. A single click shifts one color
- and a double click causes it to shift through all
- the colors between the ramp pointers. While in
- continuous shift the left button click speeds up the
- animation and the right button slows it down. To
- stop the animation move the pointer to the opposite
- arrow; then click or right click. (For slide show
- use save with animation in progress. To regulate
- the amount of time the picture is displayed in the
- slide show start the animation. When the desired
- time has passed stop the animation. The time has
- been saved. Now restart the animation and save
- the picture).

- NEOchrome UTILITIES

- Slide Show: With the Desktop Displayed select the disk and
- double click on SLIDENEO.PRG. All pictures with
- .NEO will rotate on the display. Press the space
- bar to stop the show and return to desktop.
- Future Releases: This documentation is for NEOchrome version 0.5
- as supplied by Atari. Atari will continue to
- develop this product and add new features and
- make some refinements in the months ahead.
- Until the final release is available enjoy this
- "preview" version of NEOchrome.
